It is hard to imagine that spring is coming, after all that terrible snow and ice. But there are signs of spring in every corner of the garden. I had a quick look around earlier and found these few pictures to illustrate the point. Here are the first green shoots of white narcissi almost forgotten in an old planter.
Photinia red robin has been a flaming dash of red and bottle green all winter long. Here the emerging shoots of new growth show this plant has survived and thrived during the severe cold snap.
What looks like a jumble of branches is positively bursting with life. This Japanese maple had the most wonderful autumn colours. Looks like we can expect another one this year.
More buds on bare branches as seen here on this Acer. Its coppery leaves are hinted at as its beautiful leathery buds swell.
