With Christmas around the corner often gardens look dull and uninteresting. Not so with any designed by us! Our philosophy is that gardens should look good from indoors in Winter as much as be great outdoor living spaces in warmer weather. Here are a few pictures I took last week when I revisited a garden we planted two years ago.
Frothy heads of miscanthus waft in the breeze against the skyline and provide handy landing spots for garden birds too. A deep purple variety of Penstemon is contrasted with the pink here in the foreground.
Although its hard to see in this picture, the waxy leaved seedum is starting to show through the bright pink penstemon. With wonderfuly shaped, rust coloured flower heads, sedum will provide a bit of colour and life when the really heavy frosts strip the leaves off most other plants.
Even shady areas seem full of life. Here two varieties of Phormium work together to provide a visual highlight in a dull corner. Set against an evergreen backdrop of photinia and holly hedging, there is a lot going on in this corner of the garden.
