I was showing a potential client our interior design portfolio the other day and a thought occured to me: we use mirrors in most of our projects. Here is a collection of images from our back catalogue and a reason why we choose to use them.
We had used a circle theme to link two adjoining rooms in a funky Dublin house. As shown here and below, the circle is everpresent. Along with mirroring a gorgeous John Nolan canvas on the opposite wall, the wallpaper is mirrored too. This adds an extra depth to the rich plum colour.
Here is the mirror from that adjoing room . Although set at the same height, here it looks totally different. The circle theme is carried through the fire tiles and in the lampshade.
This is one of my favourite mirrors. It seems very plain but it is super silver and mirrored all around. Here we wanted it to seem like a window in a light compromised apartment.
This mirror is from an Art Deco inspired hallway we did a few years ago. We wanted to create a feeling of glamour and Hollywood style- as if a movestar of old would fix her flame red lipstick and check her hair, before answering the phone!
I could not post about mirrors without mentioning this scheme. Here we wanted to create a punched hole look in this hallway. None of the mirrors are the same size and are placed flat to the wall and completely randomly.
And finally this mirrored ceiling shade is hung over a glass topped table alongside highly polished chrome legged chairs. The mirror seems almost accidental here but it does draw day light from the only available light source at the other end of a long room.
You can see allof these pictures in our merton design interior portfolio

Great ideas. Mirrors are great as focal points and works of art in rooms.
Really like those series of mirror of different sizes in that hall. Where did you get them?
Love that area at the bottom of the stairs. Really striking.
Thanks, I love the, “port hole”, views it creates at different times in the day.
Mirror mirror on de wall – who’s the handsomest of them all???
