dressed up kitchen dresser

October 24th, 2011

There was something just not right when we looked at this room. Having chosen the colour green to warm a kitchen diner, the dresser was too stark against it and served to darken the room further.

We contemplated changing the colour of the room but felt that was too drastic. As everyone really liked the colour we decided that the best plan was to get creative!

A few coats of a non chip paint in a slightly darker shade to the one used throughout was all it took!

Once we put the furniture in place the whole room started to come together. Two white framed b&w fabric prints add interest and more light reflection.

We sourced an eclectic mix of items to add some life to it.

The mother-of -pearl inlaid box is handy as a dumping ground for odds and sods and the low black vase sends its flowers and leaves out to the side.

Everyone loves the rocking horse and two lamps on the varnished shelf have been attached to timers for subtle evening glow.
